Pharmacy Technician Training Program
The Pharmacy Technician Training Program at Charter is designed to meet the rigorous accreditation standards of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Accreditation Council on Pharmacy Education (ASHP/ACPE).
Upon completion of this course, students will be well prepared to take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) offered through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). During the program, students will have many opportunities to take practice exams that will help prepare them to succeed on the national exam and earn the title Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
Our instructors go beyond preparing you for the exam and prepare you for a real life workplace environment. With over 30 years of pharmacy practice experience, your instructor will mentor you to succeed as a pharmacy tech.
The curriculum consists of 16 weeks of interactive classroom instruction and hands-on practice in our state-of-the-art pharmacy simulation lab, followed by 180 hours of clinical externship training in local pharmacies.

At Charter, you can quickly complete your pharmacy technician training in as little as 6 months. In addition to learning in an interactive classroom environment, you will obtain hands-on experience in our newly renovated pharmacy simulation lab.
Here you will practice preparing prescriptions in a realistic environment that replicates community and hospital pharmacy settings.
In addition to processing outpatient prescriptions, you will be trained in the preparation of sterile IV admixtures and non-sterile drug compounding.
You will also gain real-life experience through an externship program at two local pharmacies.

At the completion of our program you will take the national certification exam.
As a nationally certified pharmacy technician, you will find opportunities to work both locally and around the country. The median pay for a pharmacy technician is over $32,000* (*according to the US Department of Labor)
